Brownworth kicks off seminar series on May 14.

Brownworth Engineering will sponsor the first in a series of technical seminars on May 14 at the Days Hotel in East Brunswick. The seminar will focus on building and design requirements and recent code changes for new construction and renovations relative to wind, flood and earthquake damage.

Hosted by Richard C. Berger, chairman of The VMC Group, a leader in vibration mounting and control products, the seminar is designed for all levels of design and construction professionals.

"Over the past several years, there has been considerable emphasis placed on climatic and environmental patterns in state and international building codes," Berger said. "The same environmental factors are being considered by insurance companies before writing policies. It doesn't matter if you're building a strip mall or hospital--this criteria needs to be considered."

The seminar will identify the dos and don'ts of construction with an emphasis on new passages added to the Universal Construction Code. With examples ranging from retail stores to schools, hospitals, and mission critical data centers, Berger will examine architectural, mechanical and electrical building components.
