NATHAN BROWN Nathan Brown may refer to:
  • Three Australian rules footballers:
  • Nathan D. Brown (b. 1976), a player with Melbourne
  • Nathan Gordon Brown (b.
is searching for a prop forward.

The Giants head coach yesterday welcomed his first-team squad back for the start of official pre-season training for Super League XV.

And although the Australian believes he has more overall strength-in-depth for the 2010 campaign, Brown feels the end-of-season departures of Paul Jackson Paul Jackson can refer to:
  • Paul Jackson (artist), watercolorist
  • Paul Jackson (producer), a British television producer
  • Paul Jackson (rugby player), a rugby player
  • Paul Jackson (poker player), English professional poker player, aka "ActionJack"
and Danny Sculthorpe Danny Sculthorpe (born 8th September 1979) is an English rugby league player. Born in Oldham, he currently plays (very occasionally) as a prop for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats (when fit, which is not often).  to Castleford and Bradford, respectively, has left the Giants a little light up front.

Brown admits it could be tough finding a new recruit, given the club is close to reaching the salary cap and the overseas quota is already full.

But he is determined to find an extra front-rower if at all possible.

"Losing Danny to Bradford was disappointing, because that hadn't really been part of the plan," acknowledged Brown, who had Sculthorpe on loan from Wakefield for the last 13 games of the season.

"Bradford offered him a good deal and he understandably accepted it and, in that respect, I'm pleased for him. He's a good bloke with a young family to support. But that does leave us in a bit of a hole and we're now looking to fill the gap.

"We've not that much money left to spend, and it may be that we'll have to shuffle the pack around and move our back-rowers up into the front row, although that's not the preferred option.

"But we do look strong in the back row and in the halves, so we know we have options."

Brown's assessment suggests that reports the Giants are weighing up a pounds 150,000 move for Wakefield scrum half Danny Brough are wide of the mark.
