Brown & Brown Adds Another Agency. (Briefing).Brown & Brown Inc. said it has acquired another agency, this time in Seattle, bringing its total acquisitions this year to 25. The Tampa, Fla.-based company said it acquired the assets of Robert L. Matson Insurance Inc., which does business as Matson Insurance and Bob Matson Insurance. Terms of the transaction weren't released. Robert L. Matson Insurance, which has annualized revenue of about $1.4 million, is among the largest insurance agencies in the United States dedicated exclusively to providing insurance services for Native American tribes, the company said. Combined with Brown & Brown's July acquisition of Insurance Professionals Inc. of Pryor, Okla., which also specializes in serving Native American tribes, the latest purchase makes Brown & Brown a significant player in this specialty insurance niche, the company said. The Matson operations will combine with the existing Seattle office of Raleigh, Schwarz & Powell, which also became part of the Brown & Brown organization on Nov. 1, the company said. |
