Broward Circuit Court Judge Certifies Class Action For Every Allstate Automobile Policyholder From October,1991 Through October, 1995.


FORT LAUDERDALE Fort Lauderdale (lô`dərdāl), residential, commercial, and resort city (1990 pop. 149,377), seat of Broward co., SE Fla., on the Atlantic coast; settled around a fort built (c.1837) in the Seminole War, inc. 1911. , Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 6, 1998--A Broward County Circuit Court Judge has granted class certification in an action brought against Allstate Insurance Company.

 in the State of Florida from October 1, 1991 through October 10, 1995. The class is comprised of tens of thousands of individuals in the State of Florida.

The Court has certified a class action to make a determination as to whether these individuals who purchased automobile insurance from Allstate were overcharged premiums for personal injury protection benefits. The class action alleges that Allstate undertook a course of action to pay personal injury protection benefits at 80% of preferred provider rates as opposed to the statutorily required 80% of reasonable and necessary medical expenses rates.
