New P-Touch(R) PT-9600 Electronic Labeling System Features

Notebook-Style Portability, Downloadable Label Templates and

High Resolution Bar-Code Printing

Today Brother introduces its rugged, feature-packed, P-touch(R) PT-9600 Electronic Labeling System, designed specifically to meet commercial, industrial and harsh environment labeling needs.

The PT-9600 comes with enough flexibility to adapt itself to countless industrial applications - from asset management, to telecommunication equipment labeling, bar coding, warehouse shelving shelv·ing

and inventory control labeling. The PT-9600 will be showcased at CES 2003, Booth #32045.

"With the new PT-9600, Brother has created a labeling system that directly meets the specialty application needs of industrial users," said Dean F. Shulman, Senior Vice President at Brother. "The PT-9600 allows businesses to purchase a single labeling system that adapts to each and every application, from harsh environment to traditional office use."

Equipped with a laptop Same as laptop computer.

, portable unit, for users who need to create labels in the field, as well as a computer connected labeler (PC or Mac), for expanded functionality and use in the office.

PT-9600 key distinguishing benefits:

and function keys. Now you can download graphics, databases,

and custom templates into flash memory for a fast and easy way

to create custom labels. "This feature alone can save

industrial users vast amounts of time by streamlining the

labeling process, and has literally hundreds of possible

applications," said Duane Yamashita, Marketing Manager at

Brother.

The downloadable templates are perfect for printing package labeling, complete with corporate logos and scannable bar codes; for creating standardized patch panel A group of sockets used to connect incoming and outgoing lines in communications and electronic systems. Patch panels allow for manually wiring the connections with small cables (patch cords), rather than automatic switching.  label templates for all Telco workers in a department; or for printing inventory labels with product codes downloaded from a database.
-- Print crack-and-peel labels individually, or in a strip. The PT-9600's automatic half-cutter feature enables you to print labels in a strip, for later use. The PT-9600 also includes a sequential numbering feature, which, combined with the half-cutter, is perfect for asset management and bar coding applications, where ordered labels can be printed and then stored until ready for use.

-- Print labels with time/date stamps. A built-in, real-time clock and calendar allow you to add a time/date stamp to labels, with a single keystroke, regardless of label design. This is especially useful for time sensitive labels used in food service, and in pharmacological and other laboratories.

-- Use the portable PT-9600 on or off-site. The PT-9600 can be used right in its rugged carry case, which includes a built-in wrist pad and label catch tray. Combined with a laptop-sized keyboard, a backlit display, and rechargeable NiMH battery, the PT-9600 works any way, and anywhere, you do.

-- Print industrial-strength labels. The PT-9600 can print both standard P-touch labels and new Industrial-strength labels, which provide up to twice the adhesion strength of standard P-touch labels. All P-touch laminated labels are resistant to scratching, fading, chemicals, dust, grease and moisture, so they're perfect for scientific, medical and other harsh environment applications.

In addition, the PT-9600 boasts professional quality 360 dpi resolution, making it easy to produce sharp, legible leg·i·ble
