Brother Introduces New Single-Pass, Color Laser Printer; The HL-4000CN: Up to 16 PPM Workgroup Printing, Auto Duplexing, Advanced Networking and More.

Brother International Corporation today introduces its first single-pass color printer A printer that prints in color using three (CMY) or four (CMYK) colors of ink, toner or dye. Four color ribbons have been used in dot matrix printers, but these are rare today. See color laser printer and printer.  for workgroups - the Brother HL-4000CN.

Featuring fast up to 16 page per minute color and monochrome Also called "mono." Refers to display screens that use one foreground and one background color; for example, black on white, white on black or green on black. The first terminals connected to mainframes and minicomputers were monochrome, and monochrome screens were widely used on early  print speeds, this network-ready model comes standard with automatic duplex printing The ability to print on both sides of the paper. , up to 1200x1200 dpi resolution, Adobe PostScript3(R) emulation, and comprehensive network management tools. The HL-4000CN has an estimated street price of $3,199, and is expected to ship in early April 2002.

SINGLE-PASS PERFORMANCE & PRODUCTIVITY

What differentiates the HL-4000CN from the performance of many other color laser printers A laser printer that prints in color using four toner cartridges (CMYK) of cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Key among the HL-4000CN's feature set is the ability to print high-resolution text and graphics in rich vibrant colors at fast speeds of up to 16 pages per minute in either color or monochrome.

MULTI-PLATFORM COMPATIBILITY AND CONNECTIVITY

Whether the user environment is Windows- or Mac-based, the HL-4000CN is equipped with drivers out of the box. It is compatible with most of their operating systems Operating systems can be categorized by technology, ownership, licensing, working state, usage, and by many other characteristics. In practice, many of these groupings may overlap.  including Windows(R) 95/98/2000/Me/NT4.0/XP and iMac(TM)/iBook(TM)/G3/G4.

Another first for Brother in regard to the HL-4000CN is the inclusion of Adobe(R) PostScript(R) 3TM as one of its standard emulations. In addition to enhancing the quality of graphics rendered in the Mac environment, graphics users in advertising, marketing and other graphic intensive markets will appreciate the HL-4000CN's print speed, performance and compatibility. PCL (Printer Command Language) The page description language for HP LaserJet printers. It has become a de facto standard used in many printers and typesetters. PCL Level 5, introduced with the LaserJet III in 1990, also supports Compugraphic's Intellifont scalable fonts. 6 emulation is also standard.

The HL-4000CN also comes standard with a built-in 10/100 BaseT Ethernet web server for network connectivity. This feature enables users to remotely manage the printer through their web-browser and perform a number of operations including viewing and changing printer settings, monitoring printer supplies status and managing the printer's hard drive.

EXPANSION OPTIONS

The HL-4000CN has a number of expansion options to increase productivity and maximize user value. These include the ability to increase paper input capacity by 1,000-sheets. Another key expansion option is a 10GB hard drive, useful for storing print jobs for fast reprinting re·print
