BRIDGEWATER, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 15, 2003

Enables Users to Choose the Right Tape for the Right Job

Brother International Corporation, a leading manufacturer of electronic labeling systems, today introduces three tapes targeted to the needs of the industrial market. This is part of Brother's ongoing efforts to respond to the commercial, industrial and vertical market needs to have labels that perform and last in the most challenging surfaces and environments. These tapes work in all TZ cassette based labelers, including Brother's most popular P-touch models.

 Tapes:

-- Extra Strength Adhesive Tape--For tough applications, this

tape is ideal for labeling in harsh environments, on textured

or painted surfaces, and for a variety of plastics. This tape

has a more pliable adhesive, allowing it to penetrate into the

microscopic crevices of various materials.

-- Flexible ID Tape--This tape has a special adhesive for

bending, wrapping and flagging. It is perfect for labeling

 surfaces. Its

unique adhesive allows tight wrapping without uncurling and

allows the tape to stick to itself for flagging and tagging.

-- Tamper To meddle, alter, or improperly interfere with something; to make changes or corrupt, as in tampering with the evidence.  Evident Tape--This tape is ideal for asset management

and metrology. A security pattern appears if this label is

removed. It's suitable for use in labeling

computers/electronic devices, furniture and other company

property, equipment after calibration, as well as items sealed

for security.

"We recognize the increasingly challenging surfaces and environments that our industrial customers face. As a result, our new Tamper Evident, Flexible ID, and Extra Strength adhesive laminated tapes were designed specifically to respond to industrial market needs. This enables our customer to choose the appropriate tape for the myriad of situations they face," says Matt Hahn, Director of Marketing for Supplies and Accessories. "The flexibility and strength of our new tapes are ideal for harsh environments and challenging tasks."

All of these labels are UV resistant, perfect for outdoor use, and are water and abrasion abrasion /abra·sion/ (ah-bra´zhun)

It is a polymer of ethylene, CH2=CH2, having the formula (-CH2-CH2-)n  (PET). This results in a label that is resilient to extreme temperatures, moisture, chemicals, abrasion and fading. All these tapes feature laminated technology...the differences are in their specially-formulated adhesives.

One real-world example of these tapes' applications are in the telecom/datacom installation field. There, installers can use a single P-touch labeling system and simply switch cassettes as needed as needed prn.
