Brooks College Announces Plan to Teach Out Programs at Long Beach and Sunnyvale Campuses.

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Brooks College Brooks College is a system of two for-profit colleges in Long Beach and Sunnyvale, California. They offer career college programs in a variety of areas. The school in Long Beach is best known for its fashion design and fashion marketing programs (and their ads on late-night  announced today that it plans to "teach-out" all of its programs at its two campuses in Long Beach and Sunnyvale, California Sunnyvale ([sʌniveil]) is a city in Santa Clara County, California, United States. It is one of the major cities that make up the Silicon Valley. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 131,760. . The College will conduct a gradual teach-out process, enabling each campus to continue to operate while current students complete their programs. The College will no longer enroll new students and anticipates a final graduation Graduation is the action of receiving or conferring an academic degree or the associated ceremony. The date of event is often called degree day. The event itself is also called commencement, convocation or invocation.  date of September, 2008 for the Sunnyvale campus and March, 2009 for the Long Beach campus.

In November, 2006, the parent company of Brooks College, Career Education Corporation, announced that it planned to sell Brooks College, provided the right buyer could be identified, along with 11 of its other schools across the country. That decision, the company said, was a strategic choice to better align the company's focus as an organization.

"Over the last seven months we have been engaged in a process to identify a buyer who would understand the value of Brooks College, and would nurture NURTURE. The act of taking care of children and educating them: the right to the nurture of children generally belongs to the father till the child shall arrive at the age of fourteen years, and not longer. During the teach-out period, the campuses will continue to operate with minimal disruption to current students, enabling students to complete their programs at the current locations. Student services, including internships, career services, and financial aid, will remain available until the last student graduates. After the final graduation date, career services will be available to graduates at two other local colleges owned by Career Education Corporation. Student records and transcripts will be available from the company's corporate offices in Hoffman Estates, Illinois Hoffman Estates is a northwestern suburb of Chicago in Illinois. The village is located primarily in Cook County with a small section in Kane County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village population was 49,495 and estimated to be 52,520 in 2003. .
