Brooklands cavalcade.The 100th anniversary of the opening of a famous motor racing motor racing n (BRIT) → carreras fpl de coches; automovilismo motor racing motor n (Brit) → course f automobile track will be marked this weekend with a re-enactment by veteran vehicles of the official 1907 cavalcade cav·al·cade n. 1. A procession of riders or horse-drawn carriages. 2. A ceremonial procession or display. 3. A succession or series: starred in a cavalcade of Broadway hits. at the site. Some cars which took part in the original parade at Brooklands, near Weybridge in Surrey, will join the re-enactment this Sunday. The cavalcade is just part of a weekend of celebrations at Brooklands where Formula 1 cars will once more race around the site's famous circuit with its two huge banked sections nearly 30ft high. Starting on Saturday, the centenary festivals will feature not only races, but funfairs and entertainers. Brooklands aviation history will also be remembered with historic aircraft flying overhead. Among vehicles appearing are a 1958 Cooper Climax, a Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost The Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost refers both to a car model and to one specific car from that series. Originally named the "40/50 h.p." the chassis was produced at Royce's Manchester and later Derby and Springfield, Massachusetts factories. The Sunday cavalcade will take in all surviving parts of the circuit, with the parade timed to move off exactly 100 years on from the original cavalcade.
