Brookfield Properties Corporation announced that Thomas F. Farley has been named president and chief operating officer of the firm's Canadian commercial operations.

Farley has been executive vice president and chief operating officer of Brookfield's Canadian commercial operations since the spring of 2003, following four years as senior vice president for Western Canada and six years in various senior management positions at Brookfield and its affiliates.

While at Brookfield, Farley has been involved with several major property acquisitions in Calgary, including Bankers Hall, Petro Canada Centre and Fifth Avenue Place.

In his new role, Farley is responsible for overseeing Brookfield's 19 million s/f portfolio of office space and development sites in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. Farley is replacing Steve Douglas who is leaving Brookfield to join an affiliate of Brascan Corporation in a senior financial role.

"Since joining Brookfield in 1993, Tom's real estate acumen has directly contributed to the tremendous growth in what is considered to be Canada's best assemblage of office properties," said Ric Clark, president and chief executive officer of Brookfield Properties Corporation.
