Bronzesmith casts Navajo code talker statues.


Bronzesmith Inc., Prescott Valley, Ariz., has been chosen to cast two Navajo code talker “Codetalkers” redirects here. For the band, see The Codetalkers.

Code talkers, (also sometimes known as "Wind Talkers") were Native American Marines serving in the United States Armed Forces who primarily transmitted secret tactical messages.

The project is to acknowledge to the 400-plus Navajos who were code talkers during World War II but participated in secret and haven't received much recognition. The Navajo Code Talker Memorial Foundation Inc. commissioned Cowboy cowboy

Horseman skilled at handling cattle in the U.S. West. From c. 1820, cowboys were employed in small numbers on Texas ranches, where they had learned the skills of the vaquero (Spanish: “cowboy”).
 Artist of America Oreland C. Joe to design the statues, and Joe asked Bronzesmith to do the casting, which will take four months. The 9-ft. statues, which will sit atop 7-ft. stone pedestals when finished, depict de·pict
