, Caitlin McClatchey Caitlin McClatchey (b. 28 November 1985) is a Scottish swimmer. To date her greatest achievement has been winning 2 gold medals in the 2006 Commonwealth Games. She is the UK record holder in the 200m and 400m freestyle.  and Rebecca Adlington lowered the European record they set by more than three and a half seconds as they touched in seven minutes 45.51 seconds.

It erased the heartache of the 2008 Olympics when a below-strength squad failed to make it through the heats.

China and the USA both went under Australia's old world mark for the seventh world record of the night.

Adlington brought the team home to earn her second bronze of the meet following her third place in the 400m freestyle on Sunday.

The double Olympic champion said: "All of us gave 110% and we did better than we did last year.

"We've got our new fourth member (Carlin) and it's just been brilliant. It's just been such a race."

Jackson, silver medallist in the 400m freestyle, led the team off, and said: "We knew it would be tough out there tonight, there was a lot of good teams.

"But I thought we did a great performance, a great team effort."
