Langsam Property Services Corp. is a Bronx-based residential management organization that works to provide quality affordable housing to the residents of the Bronx and greater New York New York, state, United States New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of . Each year, Jane Addams High School contacts businesses and potential private donors in order to raise funds to support its athletic teams. Often, these efforts bring a minimal response. However, this year was certainly a different story. Langsam vice president Matthew Engel Matthew Engel is a British writer and editor who began his career in 1972. He worked on The Guardian newspaper for nearly 25 years, reporting on a wide range of political and sporting events. contacted the high school and inquired about making a donation. He also suggested other corporate representatives for the school to approach. Mr. Engel's diligence in trying to improve the quality of student life at the school led to the donation of a state-of-the-art basketball scoreboard from Nevco Scoreboard Company. Jane Addams High School was in need of a new scoreboard after both the girls' and boys' basketball teams went the full season this year with a scoreboard that only registered the game clock. Scorekeepers had to manually flip over numbers to reflect the score and teams could not see the score unless they stepped onto the court. This past February, the boys' basketball team was ranked #2 in the B Division in the entire Public School Athletic League, but the team had to host two games without a fully functioning scoreboard. The entire student body and staff of the school are appreciative of the charitable gesture by Langsam Property Services Corp.
