BROMSGROVE'S days in the Premier Division look to be numbered after they lost by two wickets at home to Shrewsbury.

Opener Ashley Newdick provided the perfect start with a solid 53 but tight bowling, particularly from Rob Foster (four for 33), kept the runs down as the home side posted 156-8. Newdick then took up the challenge with two for 27 but Cardiff University's Ryan Bishop hit a blistering 85 to help steer his side home in the 35th over.

In contrast, Walsall did their survival hopes the power of good as they secured a winning draw at fellow strugglers Leamington Spa.

Mo Sheikh (57) led the way with the bat as Paul Wicker's side totalled 176 for eight. Mark Lewis (50) and skipper Rob Williams (63) looked to have done enough to secure a vital Leamington victory only for the lower order to collapse leaving them four runs short with just a solitary wicket in hand at the close.

Knowle & Dorridge wrapped up a fivewicket win at Walmley thanks to the batting prowess of Nick James (72 not out) and Nick Warren (52 not out).

Moseley crashed to a seven-wicket defeat at Himley while Barnt Green secured a three-wicket win at home to Kenilworth Wardens, Stuart Shephard hitting 56.
