Broker team joins ESG.

In a move that underscores the firm's ongoing growth in both stature and size, Michael Laginestra and Scott Gottlieb, two of New York City's top brokers, have joined the Edward S. Gordon Company, Inc. (ESG) as executive managing director and managing director, respectively. Stephen B. Siegel, ESG's president, made the announcement.

In their new capacity, Leginestra and Gottlieb, who most recently worked at Cushman & Wakefied, with be responsible for commercial leasing on behalf of national clients.

Working jointly on all of their transactions for the past seven years, the pair has become recognized as one of the city's most prolific leasing teams. In 1992, they consummated five of the city's 35 largest deals, including the 180,000-square-foot lease for the the CIT Group Holding, Inc. at 1211 Avenue of the Americas; the 83,475-square-foot lease for Ernst & Young at 787 Seventh Avenue; the 44,480-square-foot lease for IDB Communications Group, Inc. at 380 Madison Avenue; the 75,000-square-foot lease for Lifetime Television Network at 825 Eighth Avenue; and the 66,500-square-foot lease for Ernst & Young at 1285 Avenue of the Americas.

In addition, they represent a formidable client roster, comprising names such as Viacom Inc., Penguin Books USA, Inc., The Equitable, Spelling Entertainment and Arista Records. Individually, each has garnered top honors from Cushman & Wakefield. Laginestra, an 18-year veteran with the firm, ranked among the firm's top brokers nationally in each of the last ten years. Gottlieb, with the firm since 1986, last year ranked the firm's top sales broker nationally.

Laginestra earned a Bachelors degree from Mount Saint Mary's University in Maryland. He is an active member of NACORE, REBNY and the Young Men's & Women's Real Estate Association.

Gottlieb earned a Bachelors degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, he worked at Ernst & Whinney in the firm's New York Audit Group. He is a member of REBNY.
