New Product Line Combines Best of Broderbund's Kid Pix(R) With the Most Popular Thematic Units from Teacher Created Materials!

Broderbund Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:BROD), and Teacher Created Materials, Inc. announced today they have teamed up to create Kid Pix Activity Kits, a new line of software products for teachers.

Kid Pix Activity Kits incorporate the drawing and multimedia capabilities of Broderbund's best-selling Kid Pix in theme-based activities which match the printed activities in Teacher Created Materials' most popular Thematic Unit books.

Under terms of the agreement, Teacher Created Materials will develop content based on their Thematic Unit books, and Broderbund will develop software based on the content. Broderbund and Teacher Created Materials will each market and sell the products in their respective categories, Broderbund to educators via their direct and re-seller channels, and Teacher Created Materials to educators via teacher supply stores, seminars, and other direct vehicles.

The agreement encompasses creation of up to twelve titles each year for five years. Broderbund will package the products in libraries of four titles each, while Teacher Created Materials will sell the titles individually. The first titles will be based on Teacher Created Materials' top-selling Thematic Unit books: Seasons, Weather, Creepy Crawlies, Rocks & Soil. Each title contains ready-to-use activities which engage students in problem solving, daily observations, and creative exploration. Oral instructions accompany each activity screen, providing guidance to students as they work. In addition, all activities are available at three skill levels, suitable for pre-reading (PreK-K), emergent reading/writing (K-1), and primary reading/writing (Grades 1-3).
