Broderbund Software Appoints Rodoni to Lead Banner Blue Division, Creators of the No. 1-Selling Family Tree Maker Software Line; Banner Blue Founder Kenneth Hess Steps Down.


FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 1, 1996--Alma Rodoni has been appointed President of the Banner Blue Division of Broderbund Software, Inc. Rodoni will report directly to William McDonagh, President of Broderbund, and she will lead all activities of the Banner Blue Division. Banner Blue founder Kenneth Hess will be retiring to pursue other interests.

In 1995, Broderbund Software acquired privately-held Banner Blue Software, Inc. Banner Blue's line of genealogy software Genealogy software is computer software used to collect, store, sort, and visualize genealogical data. Genealogy software will often generate kinship charts based on the data entered.  had been a success for years, and the similar product line strategies of the two companies made them a natural fit. Over the past two years, as a Division of Broderbund Software, Banner Blue has continued its stellar performance, developing new versions of its popular Family Tree Maker and Family Archive CD product lines, maintaining 70% or more market share in the genealogy category(1), and developing a revenue-producing web site at www.familytreemaker.com. Hess and Rodoni have worked together to lead the Division and ensure those successes.
