Brockville General Hospital Implements Misys CPR(TM) in Record Time to Improve Efficiency and Clinical Quality; Hospital Makes Quantum Leap in Technology to Replace Dated, Legacy System.

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Misys Healthcare Systems, a market leader in healthcare IT, today announced that Brockville General Hospital (BGH (chat) bgh - Be Good Humans. ), a 103-bed acute care facility located in Ontario, Canada, has successfully deployed Misys CPR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Definition

The implementation of Misys CPR will soon give BGH's staff of 600 the ability to access patients' comprehensive medical records, across departments, to enable more informed clinical decision-making.

"Bringing an enterprise-wide system live is a monumental undertaking and one that seems a bit overwhelming as you begin it," said Alasdair Smith Alasdair Smith is a professor of economics and former Vice-Chancellor at the University of Sussex and former Chair of the 1994 Group. He is a noted international economist whose studies (often developed in concert with fellow economist Tony Venables) have been used by the European , CIO/CFO, Brockville General Hospital. "The implementation of Misys CPR within Brockville General Hospital was successful because of the exemplary commitment from both Misys and the hospital's dedicated and very motivated project team. All hurdles that were encountered were quickly addressed by Misys, and both organizations dedicated substantial resources to ensure that the installation was completed seamlessly."

The rapid, phased implementation began in December 2005, and today, Misys CPR functionality is being used live in the laboratory, radiology and patient registration departments, completely replacing BGH's 15-year-old legacy system. Additionally, Misys CPR is being used in parts of the hospital's pharmacy and across the medical records system. BGH physicians, who treat more then 30,000 patients annually, will see improvements to workflow as a result of the integrated system.

With completion of the second phase, expected by this fall, BGH aims to have all physicians using the computerized physician order entry (CPOE CPOE Computerized Physician Order Entry

"Misys continues to focus on making the vision of community interoperability a reality, and Misys CPR will be the cornerstone of our network expansion plans."

"Within the healthcare environment, it is a rare hospital that is able to complete the implementation of an enterprise system as quickly as Brockville General Hospital was able to manage," said Richard Atkin, president of Misys Healthcare Systems' Hospital Systems business unit. "However, Misys was able to partner with Brockville to meet their aggressive installation schedule by assigning both technical and project management teams as dedicated resources to the project. In an industry where installations often go awry, we were committed to understanding the client's requirements in order to ensure success for everyone."

Misys CPR is one of several products within the Misys Optimum(TM) family, a line of products designed to achieve interoperability through the sharing of patient information across organizations, healthcare settings and technical solutions. Using Misys CPR or other Misys Optimum solutions, physicians and staff work in a connected healthcare environment, leading to improved efficiency and patient care.
