), has successfully completed a field trial of Corvis' 10 Gigabit per second product over a 4,000-km section of Broadwing's nationwide network without electrical regeneration.

"Broadwing is setting a standard as the next-generation, high speed, high capacity, all-optical network carrier," said Dr. David Huber, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Corvis. "With the successful field trial of our OC-192 (c) product and the deployment of our integrated all-optical networking solution, Broadwing has validated our vision of creating all-optical networks capable of providing advanced broadband applications and services and bandwidth on demand - today."

The Broadwing field trial used Corvis' OC-192 (c) product which supports both OC192c, necessary to provide next generation 10 Gigabit IP-based services to customers and OC-192, which supports lower bit rate SONET/SDH services.

Broadwing conducted the field trial of Corvis' OC192 (c) product on a 4,000-km section of its network transmitting OC-192c signals from Phoenix to Fort Worth and back to Phoenix without electrical regeneration. The OC-192c field trial represents the longest terrestrial transmission distance in the field to date without any electrical regeneration of the optical signals. The elimination of electrical regeneration will allow Broadwing to increase the performance and reliability of their network, while significantly reducing capital and operating costs operating costs nplgastos mpl operacionales .

"Broadwing is once again, leading the industry by delivering on its promise to provide customers with the most advanced data and Internet solutions available today," said Rick Ellenberger, president and CEO of Broadwing. "Corvis' OC-192(c) all-optical network solutions provide the flexible, high speed, ultra-long reach capability required for Broadwing next-generation broadband network."

The Corvis CorWave product suite offers the industry's first end-to-end all-optical network solution that provides high-capacity, all-optical switching and ultra-long-distance transport with integrated network A network that supports both data and voice and/or different networking protocols. CorWave products allow service providers to transmit signals entirely in the optical domain, which results in higher performance and reliability for carriers, while significantly reducing capital and operational cost of building and operating the network. Corvis' integrated all-optical network solution supports both 2.5 and 10 Gigabit per second transmission.
