Broadwing Communications Expands Media Services Network to 20 Major U.S. Cities; Carrier Deploys Net Insight Nimbra Platform.

AUSTIN, Texas -- Broadwing Communications, LLC, (Broadwing) is expanding its Media Services Network from five major U.S. media and video production markets to a total of 20 cities using Net Insight's Nimbra platform.

The Broadwing Media Services Network, which was launched one year ago, has been designed to accommodate the rapidly expanding needs of the media industry. Broadwing's media services platform utilizes DTM (Dynamic Synchronous Transfer Mode) technology to enable high-speed transport of real-time, "contribution-quality" video and other file formats for Broadwing's broadcast and other media services customers. This unique platform is capable of transporting multiple protocols over a single infrastructure and allows customers the flexibility to connect using a variety of access methods and speeds.

Enabled by Broadwing's one-of-a-kind, all-optical network the Media Services Network is exceptionally reliable, has an extremely low latency, and carries a "100 percent Quality of Service (QoS)" guarantee. Under the control of its Television Operations Center (TOC), the network supports the transport of high quality standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) video and file transfer services for the collection and distribution of content to and from any of the 20 locations.
