Broadlane Exchange Achieves Six-Month Milestone; Volume Grows, Performance Stable.

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 10, 2001

Broadlane Inc., a leader in providing supply chain management services to the healthcare industry, announced today that its private e-commerce exchange has logged six months of operation with steadily increasing volumes and stable performance. The Exchange now has 210 hospitals connected and placing orders. Of the more than 54,000 purchase orders processed by the Exchange in the past six months, Broadlane has had an order completion rate exceeding 99.99 percent.

"We built an Exchange that has proven to be a reliable asset to our customers and suppliers and it has become an integral part of their procurement process," said Lee Marston, head of Broadlane's Technology Department. "We are very pleased with the performance of the Exchange to date and appreciate the support of our customers and suppliers in achieving these impressive results."

Since the Broadlane Exchange went live in April, it has processed 54,547 purchase orders representing customer orders of more than $83 million. Currently six suppliers are integrated and transacting business through the Exchange. They are Corporate Express, Fisher HealthCare, Marconi Medical Systems, Medline Industries, Owens & Minor and Tri-anim Health Services health services Managed care The benefits covered under a health contract . Additional suppliers are scheduled to be integrated. Broadlane anticipates adding 60 more hospitals to the Exchange by the end of the year.

The Broadlane Exchange provides an order routing infrastructure and central repository for capturing purchasing information for the company's hospital customers. This is particularly attractive to Broadlane's multi-hospital customers that lack convenient methods of collecting and tracking procurement activity.

The product catalog component is also being expanded to provide comprehensive product cross-referencing, and web-enabled contract management services.
