Broadlane Contracts with BCX Technology to Provide Cutting-Edge, Point-of-Use Technology.

Business/Technology Editors

LEBANON, Tenn. & SAN FRANCISCO--(BW HealthWire)--Oct. 11, 2001

Broadlane Inc, a leader in providing supply chain management services to the healthcare industry, has signed a three-year agreement with BCX BCX Beloreck (Russia)  Technology Inc., a leading healthcare software provider of point-of-use technology, to make available BCX Technology's ScanREQ(TM) software system to Broadlane customers.

ScanREQ(TM) increases the efficiency of inventory management by allowing nurses to simply scan -- via bar code scanners -- supplies that are consumed and use a touch screen monitor to charge them to a patient.

"ScanREQ(TM) is an excellent option for hospitals because the system fully integrates into a hospital's existing billing system, eliminating the manual charge collection process with either paper or stickers," said David Mason, president of BCX Technology. "This agreement allows us to work with Broadlane customers in the automation of the operating room operating room

department where potentially 80 percent of the costs of supplies are expended."

ScanREQ(TM) automates the supply chain functions in healthcare facilities by eliminating the labeling of supplies, daily inventories for replenishment, and the keying and reconciling of charges. The product's impact on a facility can be dramatic by cutting thousands of man-hours from the supply chain while improving the process and increasing gross revenue.

"The system is more than a patient charging and inventory tracking system, it is a tool to help our customers' caregivers do their jobs more effectively," said Mike Hasselle, of Broadlane's Contracting Services Department. "While this new agreement provides our customers with significantly lower prices for BCX bar coding products and services, the real savings are obtained through improved efficiencies and lower operating expenses Operating expenses

The amount paid for asset maintenance or the cost of doing business, excluding depreciation. Earnings are distributed after operating expenses are deducted.
