Broadhurst leads, Lafeber just misses record

Paul Broadhurst will take a one-shot lead into the final round of the Portugal Open, but it was Maarten Lafeber's remarkable round of 64 which dominated Saturday's third round.

The 43-year-old Broadhurst carded a 67 to stand at seven under par for the tournament with Lafeber, Jamie Donaldson and David Lynn all tucked in behind.

Dutchman Lafeber completed the back nine in only 28 shots, just short of equalling the European Tour record of 27.

"It was a great round of golf. I played fantastic," Lafeber said.

"I was very happy with my game yesterday and I played as good as that today but made 35 putts. I can't remember being that low on the back nine before in a tournament."
