Broadcom and Motive Help Broadband Providers Accelerate the Delivery of Managed Home Networks; Service Providers Now Able to Remotely Manage Residential Gateways based on Broadcom Technology through Motive Software.

AUSTIN, Texas & IRVINE, Calif. -- Motive, Inc. (NASDAQ: MOTV), a leading provider of management software, and Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ: BRCM), a global leader in wired and wireless broadband communications semiconductors, announced that they are collaborating to build remote manageability into Broadcom(R) residential gateway products. The two companies are working together to develop solutions that are based on the DSL Forum's TR-069 management protocol, which enables gateways based on Broadcom's state-of-the-art systems-on-a-chip to be managed remotely by Motive's Home Device Manager product. As a result, broadband service providers will be able to remotely activate and manage advanced voice, IPTV and data services from distant service provider locations.

Broadcom has developed and integrated TR-069 client functionality into a complete turnkey silicon and software solution required for intelligent routers, residential gateways and other next generation home broadband devices. The software portion of the design interoperates with Motive's Home Device Manager product to provide a complete, remotely manageable CPE solution designed specifically for service providers. Motive is the first device management software provider to integrate directly with a chipset, enabling customers to provide out-of-the-box manageability for their products. As a result, gateway vendors are able to meet a key requirement of broadband providers who must remotely manage their devices and effectively rollout and support triple-play (voice, video and data) services.
