Broadcom Ships over 100 Million Fast Ethernet Ports.

Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM), a leading developer of integrated circuits enabling broadband communications to and throughout the home and business, announced that it has shipped over 100 million Fast Ethernet ports, making Broadcom the most proven supplier to all leading networking system vendors worldwide.

Broadcom has a broad range of Fast Ethernet product offerings, including stand-alone single channel, quad, hex and octal transceivers, as well as single-chip solutions combining its Digi-PHY(TM) core with system-level building blocks for a wide range of networking equipment including repeaters, network interface cards (NICs) and managed and unmanaged switches. In addition to its standard product offering, Broadcom has worked with several leading vendors to create customer-specific integrated circuits (ICs) as part of its Customized Communications Integrated Circuits (CCICs)(TM) program. Broadcom leads the market in integrating 10/100 PHYs into highly complex products; during the first quarter of 2000, the majority of the PHY ports shipped by the company were integrated into either CCICs or other value-added products, such as fully integrated switches.

Used in over 25 Fast Ethernet products, the Broadcom Digi-PHY core has been successfully implemented in multiple CMOS process technologies, ranging from 0.5 to 0.35 to 0.22 microns.
