Broadcast Rap: The FCC (1) (Federal Communications Commission, Washington, DC, www.fcc.gov) The U.S. government agency that regulates interstate and international communications including wire, cable, radio, TV and satellite. The FCC was created under the U.S.  announced that Viacom Inc. agreed to pay a record fine of $3.5 million to settle investigations of indecency by its CBS television network CBS Television Network

The settlement is separate from the FCC's $550,000 fine against CBS (Cell Broadcast Service) See cell broadcast.  for the Janet Jackson Super Bowl incident, which CBS has asked the commission to reconsider.
