Broadbus Launches Content Commander 2.0 to Accelerate Local Video on-Demand Content; Continues to Expand Product Line to Deliver on Vision for Television On-Demand (TOD)(R).

KEYSTONE, Colo. -- Broadbus Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of next-generation video on-demand (VOD See video-on-demand.

) server technology, today announced the availability of Content Commander 2.0, a powerful suite of tools that allow operators to capture, package and publish a broad range of content for video-on-demand (VOD) applications. Through Content Commander 2.0, Broadbus clients have access to Broadbus News on Demand, a new feature that expands the viewing window around the original broadcast so subscribers always have access to the latest newscasts.

"Content Commander was built in response to our customers' requests for a simple, yet powerful solution that satisfies subscribers' demand for continuously updated local content," said Tom Kennedy

, Sr. Director of Marketing for Broadbus. "Content Commander gives operators another tool to increase revenue, improve customer satisfaction and automate repetitive and costly processes."

With an intuitive and easy-to-use interface, Content Commander enables operators to provide subscribers with hours of on-demand local information such as news, town hall assemblies, local sports events and more. Using Content Commander operators can easily and quickly capture live or taped content, assign the appropriate metadata, export packages to the back office application and ultimately publish to the set-top. The real- time encoding capability significantly decreases the time it takes to capture and encode MPEG-2 content. Built with open interfaces, Content Commander integrates with all leading platforms.

Content Commander's role in enabling the capture and publishing of recurring content allows for the introduction of the unique Broadbus News on Demand feature. Operators are now able to capture and update new content automatically, eliminating the need for repetitive exporting of recurring programming, such as local news. Content Commander with News on Demand has been deployed by leading operators including Time Warner.

"We needed a solution that would allow us to provide a broad range of local content to our subscribers in the most efficient and cost effective a manner possible." said Thomas Josie, General Manager of SELCO. "Content Commander automates the process of wrapping content with the accompanying metadata into an easily exportable package that our subscribers ultimately can access through their set-top box The cable TV box that sits on "top" of the TV "set," although it is often located several feet away in an equipment rack. The set-top box descrambles the premium channels and provides a tuner for the higher cable numbers that very old TVs did not support. . Our local on-demand programming has been met with an enthusiastic response from our subscribers and we plan to continue working with Broadbus to expand our offerings and provide our customers with broader local content."

In developing the updated version of Content Commander, Broadbus set out to provide an even simpler and more intuitive user experience. To that end, Content Commander 2.0 has been designed with a Java-based graphical user interface graphical user interface (GUI)

New quality control mechanisms include a playback feature that allows operators to visually inspect the quality of video before it is published.

"VOD continues to grow as a revenue generation tool for cable operators, while at the same time subscribers are coming to expect on-demand libraries that are deeper and broader in content," said Vin Bisceglia, Chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization.
