Broadband Communications Expert to Head Asia Online North America Operations.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 25, 2000

Phil Burkhart, a broadband technology expert who specializes in developing distribution technologies and content applications for voice, data and video services, has been named Vice President and General Manager of Asia Online's domestic operations.

Burkhart, 38, will be based at Asia Online's Walnut Creek office with a charter to expand the company's U.S. presence among small and medium sized businesses who want to communicate with others in Asia, expand their Web presence in Asia, or build a Web presence that will appeal to audiences in Asian countries. Asia Online services include high-speed Internet access, dial-up access with over 450 points-of-presence nationwide; Web site development that is relevant for audiences in Asia markets; maintenance of existing Web sites; e-commerce development; application hosting and adding functionality such as translation services.

In addition, Asia Online offers unlimited Internet access to business travelers going to Hong Kong through Asia Online's Hotel card, available at http://americas.asiaonline.net, or in over 25 major hotels in the Hong Kong area.

Burkhart replaces acting general manager John Stark, who will turn his attention to worldwide business development activities.
