BroadLogic Unveils World's First Wideband Receiver for Ultra High-Speed Internet Delivery; BroadLogic's BL12000 to Accelerate Online Speeds More Than 1500%, While Also Supercharging Today's DVR Platforms.

SAN JOSE San Jose, city, United States
San Jose (sănəzā`, săn hōzā`), city (1990 pop. 782,248), seat of Santa Clara co., W central Calif.; founded 1777, inc. 1850.
, Calif. -- BroadLogic Network Technologies, a supplier of groundbreaking semiconductor chipsets to the broadband industry, today announced the launch of its BL12000 Wideband Receiver. Compatible with current and forthcoming industry standards, BroadLogic's new BL12000 enables cable modems to deliver broadband at previously unimagined ultra high-speeds beyond 600 Megabits per second (unit) megabits per second - (Mbps, Mb/s) Millions of bits per second. A unit of data rate. 1 Mb/s = 1,000,000 bits per second (not 1,048,576).

E.g. Ethernet can carry 10 Mbps.
. In addition, the BL12000 enables a new generation of whole-home DVR (1) (Digital Video Recorder) A device that records video onto a hard disk from one or more ceiling mounted video cameras. Part of a security system, the DVR typically supports 4, 8 or 16 separate camera channels.  set-tops, which can simultaneously record dozens of video streams, while other video streams are being viewed live.

"Cable is facing intense competition for data, voice, and video services," said Advance Newhouse Vice President of Advanced Technologies Jeff Chen. "Wideband provides operators a unique opportunity to gain an edge in offering more advanced services without requiring a new plant build-out."

"The cable industry has a strategic advantage with 750 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  or more bandwidth to the home, but current cable modems are limited to only 6 MHz (less than 1%) of that spectrum. Wideband allows cable's data services to scale many times beyond that to meet growing consumer demand and the competitive environment," said Karen Liu, research director for global analyst and consulting firm Noun 1. consulting firm - a firm of experts providing professional advice to an organization for a fee

Ovum-RHK. "Wideband enables cable operators to respond to competitive speed increases from xDSL and FTTx. Furthermore, we view technology that addresses the cost of the advanced cable-modem side as the key to rapid penetration."

"Finally physics will play in favor for cable. Technology such as BroadLogic's Wideband gives MSOs a competitive advantage by unleashing the full bandwidth of the cable network to allow very high-speed IP-based services both to TV sets and to computers. This technology and forthcoming standards signal the onset of convergence in cable networks," said Martin Kull, CTO (Chief Technical Officer) The executive responsible for the technical direction of an organization.  channels into one "virtual" channel. BroadLogic's Wideband design methodology utilizes the existing physical cable plant to process multiple standard 6 or 8 MHz channels each supporting standard QAM modulation to deliver GigE (Gigabit Ethernet) class downstream capacity to individual subscriber premises.

Wideband's far-reaching implications impact every aspect of cable service delivery, although the most immediate application will emerge in broadband data. As competition between broadband providers escalates in every region of the world, Wideband offers cable operators a significant advantage over DSL DSL

. With current high-speed Internet download speeds hovering between 1 Mbps and 6 Mbps, introduction of Wideband equipment into existing network architectures will enable cable operators to offer ultra high-speed services with peak speeds of several hundred Mbps.

"Single channel cable modem technology severely limits our ability to deliver data speeds competitive to DSL in South Korea," said Dr. J.H. Shim A small piece of software that is added to an existing system program or protocol in order to provide some enhancement.

"Wideband provides us immediate relief and in some areas the upper hand in meeting and exceeding competitors' ultra high-speed offerings."

"Current cable modem speeds are not meeting user demands as applications and content require more and more bandwidth. As competition among high-speed Internet providers utilizing fiber and XDSL reaches a fever pitch worldwide, cable is in dire need of a technological edge to push them ahead," said BroadLogic President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Tony Francesca. "BroadLogic's BL12000 will enable cable operators to quickly deploy next-generation advanced services such as ultra high-speed connectivity, propelling cable's Internet services light years beyond competitors' offerings."

With a Wideband cable modem, subscribers can download entire CDs to their iPODs in seconds, access their workplace networks from home as if they were in the office, gain advantage over competing online gamers, and share high-megapixel photos with friends and family at blazing speed. Even with this impressive performance, Wideband is backwards compatible with current and upcoming industry standards.

BroadLogic Wideband technology also brings advantages to advanced digital video platforms. Wideband-enabled DVR set-tops will record dozens of video channels simultaneously, allowing each member of a household to watch/record their favorite channels without conflict. These same set-tops can support ultra-high-speed data service and VoIP telephony thanks to the BL12000's multi-channel capabilities. Possibly its most far-reaching impact, future Wideband implementations will help MSOs smoothly and cost-effectively transition to all-digital networks.

solutions, forming the core of a multi-channel receiver front-end. While traditional solutions are capable of tuning and demodulating a single 6 or 8MHz channel, a BL12000 system is capable of simultaneously tuning and demodulating sixteen 6MHz channels (North America), or twelve 8MHz (Europe, Asia) channels, after which the resultant data streams can be joined together into a single output "super stream."

The BL12000 delivers an unprecedented level of performance at a consumer price point, which is not practical when using multiple standard 6 or 8 MHz tuners and demodulators.

About BroadLogic Network Technologies

Headquartered in San Jose, California San Jose (IPA: /ˌsænhoʊˈzeɪ/) is the third-largest city in California, and the tenth-largest in the United States. It is the county seat of Santa Clara County. , BroadLogic designs and supplies breakthrough semiconductor technologies that enable broadband network operators to offer next-generation digital video, voice and data services. BroadLogic's technologies act as broadband engines to power subscriber-premises devices such as ultra-high-speed cable modems, advanced digital set-top boxes, DVRs, and new service platforms. By enabling these devices to simultaneously process an order of magnitude A change in quantity or volume as measured by the decimal point. For example, from tens to hundreds is one order of magnitude. Tens to thousands is two orders of magnitude; tens to millions is three orders of magnitude, etc.  more bandwidth than conventional approaches, BroadLogic's Wideband technologies unlock the true potential of broadband networks.
