About Raanan Gewirtzman

Raanan Gewirtzman has been appointed general manager of BroadLight's research development facility located in Ramat Gan, Israel, which houses the company's engineering, testing and production staff. The company plans to increase the capabilities of the Israeli engineering team to broaden its product line of software, semiconductor and transceiver solutions for broadband passive optical networks (BPONs).

Gewirtzman brings over 20 years of experience in hardware and software design along with strong managerial skills in IC development operations. Prior to joining BroadLight, Gewirtzman was instrumental in building the R&D operation for Virata Corporation in Israel, where he was responsible for developing a new range of communication processors and also introduced a full customer-owned tooling (COT) process flow for semiconductor development. Prior to that he managed a number of development programs for IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  Corporation in Haifa and Tel Aviv Tel Aviv (tĕl əvēv`), city (1994 pop. 355,200), W central Israel, on the Mediterranean Sea.
