BroadLight Appoints New CEO and Chairman of the Board; New Executive Management Roles Facilitate Continuing Growth and Expansion.

BroadLight, a leading supplier of communication semiconductors and optical transceivers of cost effective FTTP PON solutions, today announced the appointment of Andrew M. Vought as company CEO and Anthony T. Maher as Chairman of the Board. These appointments will bolster the start-up's business, sales and marketing activities and will expand new business activities in the USA and worldwide.

Andrew Vought joins BroadLight as CEO with more than 25 years of semiconductor and technology management experience. Previously he served in the Office of the President of GlobespanVirata following the 2001 merger of Virata with Globespan. For the five years prior to the merger, Andrew (Andy) served as Chief Financial Officer and had responsibility for the operations of Virata, based in Santa Clara CA. Andy's other semiconductor experience include Micro Power Systems and Texas Instruments Europe.

Mr. Anthony T. Maher has been a partner and investment manager at STAR Ventures since 2002. He currently serves as a board member in the following companies: Alvarion Ltd. (Nasdaq: ALVR), Graviton, Inc., PacketVideo Corporation and CubeOptics Ag. Before joining STAR, he served as a member of the managing board for Siemens Information and Communication Networks Group from 1997 to 2002. During this period Anthony (Tony) was responsible for all ICN European business and later included the US business as well. He has held various positions at Siemens responsible for EWSD software development and integration both in Munich and Boca Raton and was the deputy director of system engineering for EWSD architecture and processor design. Before being named to the President's post for Access, Tony served as director of marketing for worldwide product planning within the Public Communication Networks Group.
