By establishing of a joint venture with a big fiber-optic vendor which will produce PON (Passive Optical Network) An optical point-to-multipoint access network. There are no optical repeaters or other active devices in a PON, hence the name "passive.  ONU/ONT transceiver according to BroadLight superior design and using its burst mode technology, BroadLight succeeded to cut the transceiver prices dramatically.

BroadLight offers a three-part PON solution that includes burst mode transceivers, PON controllers and software stacks for both Central Office (CO) and Customer Premises Equipment (CPE).

"There is consensus in the market that PON is the best technology for FTTH. With BroadLight's new prices, it is now not only affordable but will also be an enabler for the technology," said Didi DIDI Digital Image Design Incorporated (New York)  Ivancovsky, VP Products of BroadLight. "We are now offering a package deal of a burst mode transceiver and PON controller for less than $70 in large quantities. This enables a BOM (Bill Of Materials The list of components that make up a system. For example, a bill of materials for a house would include the cement block, lumber, shingles, doors, windows, plumbing, electric, heating and so on. ) cost for a CPE to be as low as $100."
