BroadLight, Inc., a leading supplier of communication semiconductors and optical transceivers, announced today that it has recently achieved three new design wins for its end-to-end PON (Passive Optical Network) An optical point-to-multipoint access network. There are no optical repeaters or other active devices in a PON, hence the name "passive.  enabling solution that includes burst mode transceivers, PON controllers and software stacks for both Central Office (CO) and Customer Premises Equipment See CPE.  (CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) Communications equipment that resides on the customer's premises.

The wins confirm BroadLight's commitment to introduce low cost, high performance components and transceivers in order to fuel the PON market.

The new design wins come from Tier 1 equipment vendors that are world leaders in broadband access. In the past few months, an increasing number of leading DSL equipment vendors have taken renewed interest in the evolving FTTH (Fiber To The Home) See FTTP.  market. More and more vendors are including APON-based FTTH functionality into their product offerings.
