BroadCloud Acquires LapLink's Exchange Accelerator Technology; SURE connect Platform Now Provides Reliable and Fast Wireless e-Mail Transfer Via Microsoft Exchange and Outlook.

BroadCloud Communications Inc., a leading provider of wireless data solutions, today announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire LapLink's Exchange Accelerator(TM) technology for integration within its SURE connect platform.

Exchange Accelerator is LapLink's popular e-mail acceleration software that utilizes highly efficient methods of data transfer to speed e-mail exchange via Microsoft Exchange Messaging and groupware software for Windows from Microsoft. Exchange Server is an Internet-compliant e-mail system that runs under Windows NT/2000 and Windows Server 2003. It can be accessed by Web browsers, the Exchange client, versions of Outlook and the earlier Windows Inbox. (R) and Outlook over remote network connections.

BroadCloud is wrapping up efforts to integrate Exchange Accelerator into SURE connect, the company's flagship product A primary product of a company, which is typically why the company was founded and/or what made it well known. For example, MS-DOS, Windows and the Microsoft Office suite have been flagship products of Microsoft. CorelDRAW is a flagship product of Corel Corporation.  that delivers a complete wireless Internet experience today that is up to five times as reliable and 10 times faster than existing wireless connections utilizing 75 percent less bandwidth.

Because it's based on BroadCloud's patented Wireless Internet Protocol 'Wireless Internet Protocols' are the suite of wireless protocols after Wireless Application Protocol 2.0 (WAP). It includes XHTML Basic, Nokia's XHTML Mobile Profile, and future developments of WAP by the Open Mobile Alliance. , SURE connect allows mobile workforces to efficiently send and receive e-mail with large attachments, remotely use corporate applications and access graphics-rich, data-intensive content from the Internet via laptops and other mobile devices.

Now, with the integration of Exchange Accelerator, SURE connect will deliver the same unprecedented reliability and speed to corporate mobile workforces and individuals that rely on Microsoft Exchange and Outlook for wireless e-mail exchange.

Support and Availability

SURE connect with new support for Microsoft Exchange and Outlook will be available April 1 for laptop computers with service from any wireless packet data network including existing networks such as CDPD (Cellular Digital Packet Data) A low-speed, digital, wireless data network that is an enhancement to an existing analog cellular network. Based on IBM's CelluPlan II, CDPD provides a packet overlay onto the AMPS network and moves data at 19.  (Cellular Digital Packet Data (communications, protocol) Cellular Digital Packet Data - (CDPD) A wireless standard providing two-way, 19.2 kbps packet data transmission over exisiting cellular telephone channels. ) and circuit-switched iDEN(R), GSM, CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) A method for transmitting simultaneous signals over a shared portion of the spectrum. The foremost application of CDMA is the digital cellular phone technology from QUALCOMM that operates in the 800 MHz band and 1.9 GHz PCS band.  and TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) A satellite and cellular phone technology that interleaves multiple digital signals onto a single high-speed channel. For cellular, TDMA triples the capacity of the original analog method (FDMA).  networks, as well as future networks like GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) The first high-speed digital data service provided by cellular carriers that used the GSM technology. GPRS added a packet-switched channel to GSM, which uses dedicated, circuit-switched channels for voice conversations.  (General Packet Radio Service), W-CDMA See WCDMA.  and other PCS (1) (Personal Communications Services) Refers to wireless services that emerged after the U.S. government auctioned commercial licenses in 1994 and 1995.
