Broad named PCA's most valubale player.


STUART BROAD has been named as England's most valuable player for the 2008-09 season.

Professional Cricketers' Association The Professional Cricketers' Association is the representative body of past and present first class cricketers in England and Wales, founded in 1967.

In the 1970s, the PCA arranged a standard employment contract and minimum wage for professional cricketers in first-class
 statistics revealed that Broad took 64 wickets and scored 464 runs to secure 388 most valuable player points, eight ahead of Kevin Pietersen This article is included in the list of featured articles.

Broad started the year with One Day International bowling figures of 5-23 against South Africa South Africa, Afrikaans Suid-Afrika, officially Republic of South Africa, republic (2005 est. pop. 44,344,000), 471,442 sq mi (1,221,037 sq km), S Africa.  in May and followed up with career-best Test figures of five for 85 against the West Indies in Jamaica.

In the ODI's he took 32 wickets at an economy rate of under five runs per over.

With the bat Broad scored consistently notching a 76 and 67 in the Test series against South Africa and knocking 44 runs off 55 balls against the West Indies.

Broad, who came first in the ODI most valuable player category, third in the Twenty20 version and fourth for Test matches, was the second most capped player this year behind Pietersen..

Ever present Pietersen amassed 1,789 runs, including five Test and two one day centuries as well as three other scores over 90.

He also claimed four wickets and may have won the overall most valuable player title had he not left the field due to a back spasm in the penultimate ODI in Barbados..
