A pop icon is a celebrity whose fame in pop culture constitutes a defining characteristic of a given society or era.
, idolised by millions across the globe, but could she be credited with saving people's lives? Well that's what an intriguing BBC BBC
 in full British Broadcasting Corp.

Publicly financed broadcasting system in Britain. A private company at its founding in 1922, it was replaced by a public corporation under royal charter in 1927.
 documentary will be trying to find out, as it follows a group of devotees who claim the American singer's music helps them in their day to day lives.

The one-hour programme - Britney Spears Saved My Life - also shows hundreds of people at the BBC Television Centre Coordinates:  BBC Television Centre (sometimes abbreviated TVC or TC  in London as they rehearse to create Britney Spears' biggest ever mass dance tribute.

Fans from all over the UK came on a rainy day in March to create the record-breaking routine.

A top choreographer put the crowd through their paces to Britney's 1999 tune Hit Me Baby One More Time.

The show also takes a closer look at 11 fans, visiting their hometowns, exploring why they worship the singer.

They are a diverse group of people, but they are similar in their thinking - that Britney's music and life helps give meaning and shape to their own lives, and helps them through bad times.

This programme seeks to discover the secret of Ms Spears' intense emotional bond with her fans and what the fans get in return. The film also asks where does devotion crossover into obsession?
