British Museum Agrees to Return Cyrus Cylinder to Iran.

Located in the Bloomsbury section of the city, it has departments of antiquities, prints and drawings, coins and medals, and ethnography.  agreed to display the Iranian Cyrus Cylinder The Cyrus Cylinder, also known as the ‘Cyrus the Great Cylinder’, is an artifact consisting of a declaration issued by the emperor Cyrus II of Persia inscribed in Babylonian (Akkadian) cuneiform on a clay cylinder.  at Iran's National Museum from January 16 for a period of four months.

The Spokesman of Iran's Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization Hassan Mohseni was quoted by the Iranian students news agency as saying that after talks between the Keeper of British Museum on Middle East section John Curtis and the Iranian cultural heritage officials, two sides agreed to display the cylinder in Iran for four months from January 16. John Curtis leading a delegation visited the Iranian organization on Tuesday. Mohseni also continued the two sides also reached agreement on packaging, protection and insurance. He added Iran will make every effort to keep the worthless cylinder extremely safe when it arrives in the country. The Iranian cylinder was discovered in 1879 and it is now being kept in ancient Iran section of British Museum.
