Britian's Richard Faulds, 23, earned his country's second gold in men's double trap shotgun after a dramatic shootoff with defending gold medalist Russell Mark of Australia. The Australian could only hit two out of four targets in the shoot-out, compared to Faulds' three. This was Britain's first shooting gold medal in 12 years. Faulds is a shooting instructor in West London.

Fifth seed Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario will play China's Na Li in women's tennis singles. Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario, 29, started playing tennis at age 4 by following her brothers to the court and playing against the wall with her first racquet. She turned professional in June 1985. In 1998, Sanchez-Vicario received Spain's highest award, the Principe De Asturiaso, for her lifetime achievement in tennis; the award is Spain's equivalent to a Nobel Prize Nobel Prize, award given for outstanding achievement in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, peace, or literature. The awards were established by the will of Alfred Nobel, who left a fund to provide annual prizes in the five areas listed above.  and she is the first Spanish woman and third female athlete to receive the award. This is her second Olympics appearance.
