In this way citizens will no longer waste their time by visiting police stations and the police will save time which will be constructively invested elsewhere, such as patrols for the prevention of accidents and crime. It should be underlined that the on-line payment can be made from anywhere, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week." Varnava said "We have raised awareness among the public and it will also be written on the penalty notices that fines can be paid on-line and by credit cards. It may take some time for the news to spread." "This is the first step" he added "We hope it will be successful. The second step is to expand this system to include the payment of warrants and bail bonds A written promise signed by a defendant or a surety (one who promises to act in place of another) to pay an amount fixed by a court should the defendant named in the document fail to appear in court for the designated criminal proceeding at the date and time specified. ."
