British American Business Council and British Airways Sponsor Exchange Program for Disabled Teens; Five Special Students from the UK Will Visit Seattle.


SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 30, 1998--For the second year in a row, the British American British Americans are Americans whose ancestry stems, either wholly or in part, from one of the four constituent nations of the United Kingdom.  is bringing five very special teenagers to Seattle on January 7, 1999 in an exciting educational opportunity for disabled students in the U.S. and England.

Five students from the Fountaindale School in Sherwood Forest, England, will be taking their very first trip onboard a British Airways 747 to the United States and visiting Eastside Catholic High School Eastside Catholic High School is a private Catholic school under construction in Sammamish, Washington, USA with its current Bellevue, Washington location in a leased facility from the Bellevue School district.  in Bellevue, Washington.

"This unique exchange program was so successful last year because it allows special young adults from two different countries to gain the experience of a lifetime as they travel out of the country for the first time in their lives," explained Malvina Ehrenberg, British Airways Account Manager and BABC Project Manager. "We just couldn't pass up the opportunity to continue supporting such a unique cultural and learning exchange between the UK and USA," she added.

At the end of February, five juniors and seniors from Eastside Catholic High School will travel to the UK on British Airways to be hosted by Fountaindale School. British Airways is sponsoring all travel costs for both groups and making special arrangements for individual travel needs. Extensive preparatory work has been done by British Airways, BABC, and Eastside Catholic High School, with additional support from Global Transport, to ensure another successful program.

It complements our other existing community involvement with Pacific Northwest Fellowships -- a successful program offering paid work experience placements in the UK for Washington State community college Washington State Community College (WSCC) is a two-year community college located in Marietta, Ohio. It was established in 1971 as Washington Technical College. Thanks to former college president Carson K.  students," explained Jack Stone, President of BABC.

"This is the travel opportunity of a lifetime for these young adults," said Ken Olenick, British Airways Director of Sales Pacific Northwest. "The first exchange was so well received and such a success that we are thrilled at the chance of doing it again," he added.
