British Airways Offers $99 One-Way Fare to London During Its Special 3-Day `Close of the Millennium Sale,' Plus Exceptional Value Fares Available From 22 U.S. Gateway Cities.

British Airways tonight started a special three-day "Close of the Millennium Sale" with fares as low as $99(a) for one-way from New York or East Coast gateways to London.

The special low fares are offered for travel to London from any of 22 gateways in the United States, ranging from only $99 to $200 one-way plus tax and based on a round trip.

The British Airways "Close of the Millennium Sale" starts at 8 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, Sept. 21, and continues for only three days through midnight on Friday, Sept. 24, local time.

"These special, exceptionally low fares for travel this fall to London are a great way for British Airways to celebrate the end of what has been a great millennium for world travel," said Jill Donaldson, vice president, Leisure Travel Marketing for British Airways in the United States.

The best price is the fare for travel on a Wednesday, but there are also huge discounts for any day of the week and from any of its gateways in North America, according to the airline.

British Airways officials noted that the early fall is a particularly good time to visit London, with good weather before the arrival of winter and with the absence of the heavy crowds of tourists that are typical in the summer.

London has been designated as the Millennium City and this fall is a particularly good time to preview work on some of the new attractions that will open next year in London -- like the London Eye and the Millennium Dome, both of which are sponsored by British Airways.
