Barrymore pool death: Severe internal injuries suffered by the man found dead in TV entertainer Michael Barrymore's swimming pool were inflicted before he died. Essex Police said in January they were looking into suggestions made by Barrymore's lawyer that Stuart Lubbock suffered injuries at a hospital after he was in the pool. Yesterday a force spokesman said: "The evidence suggests he received the injuries before he died." The 31-year-old factory worker was found in Barrymore's pool at his home in Roydon, near Harlow, in March 2001. An open verdict was recorded at the inquest.

As a result, the effectiveness of drugs against certain diseases could be doubled, it is claimed.
