Britannica Unveils Ready Reference Encyclopedia; 12-Volume Set Retails At Bookstores for Under $500.

 Britannica, Inc. today announced that it will begin selling a popular-priced encyclopedia encyclopedia, compendium of knowledge, either general (attempting to cover all fields) or specialized (aiming to be comprehensive in a particular field). Encyclopedias and Other Reference Books
 in bookstores across the country. Called Britannica Ready Reference(TM), the 12-volume set will be available in June at a suggested retail price of $499.

"We are enhancing our print encyclopedia line to offer consumers more choices, especially parents who previously may have passed up Britannica due to price," said John Hallberg, senior vice present, worldwide marketing. "The Britannica Ready Reference gives families the legendary Britannica quality at a price they can afford."

The Ready Reference set consists of the first 12 volumes of the full 32 -volume Encyclopaedia Britannica. Containing 64,000 articles organized from A to Z, the Ready Reference provides an unmatched breadth of information on a variety of topics. Continued Commitment To Print Encyclopedias This article contains a list of encyclopedias, including projects to create new works. Because the number of works that can be considered encyclopedias is very large, this list does not attempt to be comprehensive.

Nearly a year ago, Britannica began offering its Encyclopaedia Britannica set in retail bookstores, distributed through Merriam-Webster Inc. In addition to the full 32-volume set, Merriam-Webster will now also distribute the 12-volume Ready Reference and Britannica CDs.
