Britain set for the big freeze.

Britain was bracing itself today for the beginning of a cold snap which is expected to bring heavy snow showers and Arctic conditions to many parts of the country.

Temperatures were expected to be noticeably cooler from today, with the arrival of a cold front from Canada bringing much colder but brighter weather.

However, this will be followed tomorrow by even colder air from the Arctic, which will arrive in Scotland before sweeping south. By Monday night, heavy snow showers will hit the North of England.
