Tamalpais; inc. 1908. The region's scenic beauty and excellent beaches attract many visitors. , Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 27, 1999-- The Bristol Group today announced the addition of Auto-route support for digital PBX's to IsoFax, its network fax software. Auto-route automatically routes inbound faxes to the correct recipient. The new generation of PBX's are capable of passing on dialing information from DNIS (Dialed Number Identification Service) A service that enables a company to identify which telephone number was dialed. A PBX often receives calls on the same port that were dialed to different 800 or 900 numbers, and the DNIS data contains the dialed number so (Dialed Number Identification Services) supplied by the telephone service provider. The dialing information is used by IsoFax software to determine to whom on a network an inbound fax should be routed. PBX's that support DNIS eliminate the expense of additional hardware previously required to enable automatic routing of faxes. DNIS information is supplied as a part of DID (Direct Inward Dialing See DID. (communications) Direct Inward Dialing - (DID) A service offered by telephone companies which allows the last 3 or 4 digits of a phone number to be transmitted to the destination exchange. ) and takes advantage of DID's concept of many phone numbers on a single line. By assigning blocks of numbers to a single line companies save substantial phone line costs, reduce wiring expenses, and simplify telephony provisioning. IsoFax was the first network fax product to support DID as a method for automatically delivering faxes to the desktop. Until recently DID was the only reliable method for fax delivery to users. DID was delivered over DID trunks and required additional hardware for extracting the dialed number information. With advancements in PBX (Private Branch eXchange) An inhouse telephone switching system that interconnects telephone extensions to each other as well as to the outside telephone network (PSTN). technology Auto-route now supports all-digital installations as well as ones using standard phone lines. This gives companies three options for routing inbound faxes to their users. Digital auto-routing is the simplest method to implement as T1 lines can be connected directly from the PBX to the digital fax board which also comes with a network interface for easy connection to a company's network. The Bristol Group is the developer of IsoFax, the leading network fax solution for large installations. IsoFax is currently used by Nomura, DHL DHL abbr. 1. Doctor of Hebrew Letters 2.
