Brio Technology and Prism Solutions offer first integrated solution for seamless access to meta data and business information; Brio's BrioQuery 3.5 and Prism Directory Manager 2.0 provide user access to data warehouses.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 1995--Brio Technology, Inc. and Prism Solutions, Inc., today announced a strategic marketing and development partnership that has resulted in the first solution to provide seamless user access to meta data and business information.

Until now, users have not been able to take full advantage of the combination of front-end access tools and meta data navigation products. As a result of this partnership, Brio's BrioQuery(TM) 3.5 and Prism Directory Manager(TM) 2.0 share a dynamic link that provides users with a single, unified view of their data warehouse.

Specifically, the integration of these two industry leading products gives users the ability to launch BrioQuery by simply clicking on an icon directly from Prism Directory Manager. This provides users a better understanding of the data being analyzed an·a·lyze

The term is also often used synonymously with drainage basin.  moment in the data warehouse market evolution as vendors combine their strengths to provide an integrated solution for meta data management and data access in the data warehouse."

"This is a perfect marriage of two leading technologies in the industry," said Katherine Glassey-Edholm, Brio's executive vice president of products and marketing. "We believe users will benefit from this optimal product architecture which combines the best of Prism's navigation capabilities with Brio's desktop analysis."

About Prism Directory Manager

Prism Directory Manager allows users to build, store and navigate an integrated Information Directory of the meta data in a data warehouse. Similar to the card catalog catalog, descriptive list, on cards or in a book, of the contents of a library. Assurbanipal's library at Nineveh was cataloged on shelves of slate. The first known subject catalog was compiled by Callimachus at the Alexandrian Library in the 3d cent. B.C.  at a library, Prism Directory Manager assists users in finding relevant information for analysis by providing both business and technical views of what data is in the warehouse, where it came from, how it was transformed and how it has changed over time. Users can also create their own customized views of the meta data to fit their particular requirements.

Prism Directory Manager imports meta data from several sources, including the technical meta data collected by Prism Warehouse Manager during warehouse development, as well as business meta data from CASE tools and flat files. It offers a choice of server databases for the Information Directory, including DB2, Oracle, Sybase and Watcom, and supports OS/2 and Windows as the client operating system See desktop operating system. .
