The launch of a UK subsidiary is another step in Brio Technology's international marketing strategy, which already includes localized language versions of BrioQuery Enterprise in French, German and Italian. Indeed, 20 percent of Brio's revenue is already generated outside the US through its existing distributor network. Brio Technology Ltd. will sell Brio's products direct in the UK, building on a strong UK customer base, with clients including Mercury Communications, Hoffman La Roche, Motorola and British Petroleum.

The UK operation will also be the base for Brio's European operations, which will also oversee the distribution of Brio products in eight other European countries, including France, Germany and Italy. Brio Technology Ltd. already has a working staff of eight people covering sales, marketing, technical support, consulting and training operations, and is based in Old Isleworth, Middlesex.

Nick Halsey, Brio Technology's vice president of international sales and business development commented, "This is a very exciting time for Brio. The opening of a direct UK operation reflects a tremendous market response to the introduction of international versions of BrioQuery last year and the success Brio has been experiencing in the United States for some time now. Through the UK operation, Brio will be able to deliver the kind of high value data warehousing solution that customers expect, while developing a base for future growth. This is the first of many direct operations for Brio outside of the US."
