) joined forces to demonstrate the latest in enterprise processing power.

At simultaneous events in New York and San Francisco, the industry leaders demonstrated for the first time a combination of technologies and products that reveal the true exploitative power of eight Pentium III Xeon processors running at speeds of 500 MHz. In the only demonstration being shown on an 8-way PIIIXP-based server, the companies have brought together IBM's Decision Edge for Sales Analysis, SAP, which includes the Brio Enterprise business intelligence suite, with the scalable database flexibility of DB2 running on SCO's UnixWare 7.

"Today's most competitive companies are demanding complete hardware and software solutions that provide not only high performance but also the flexibility and reliability to meet the demands of both client-server as well as Internet-based applications," said Chris Grejtak, executive vice president of marketing for BrioTechnology. "Today's IBM-Brio-SCO collaboration clearly demonstrates the power of the new Intel processor and highlights the incredible scalability and performance available to deliver enterprise class business intelligence solutions."

"Companies rely on business intelligence solutions such as Decision Edge for Sales Analysis to maintain their competitive advantage," said Doug Warrilow, Director, Enterprise Marketing for SCO. "These business critical solutions require the scalability, flexibility and performance delivered by UnixWare 7. Today SCO is delivering the power that volume Intel systems need to move into the data center."

"IBM's DB2 Universal Database and DecisionEdge for Sales Analysis provide both a high-performance database and scalable application platform," said Jim Kelly, vice president, data management marketing, IBM Software Solutions. "This combination perfectly complements the power and performance of the new Intel 8-processor Pentium III Xeon-based server."

DB2 Universal Database is the industry's first multimedia, Web-ready relational database management system relational database management system - relational database  -- powerful enough to meet the demands of large corporations and flexible enough to serve medium-sized and small businesses. DB2 Universal Database combines power for business intelligence (decision support, data warehousing and data mining) with industry-leading performance and reliability for transaction processing. It delivers on IBM's network computing e-business promise, linking the world's business information with the Internet to realize business value.
