Clarke now runs a market stall in the Camden Lock markets. , chairman of the CBI's distributive trades panel, said: "The retail sector seems to be finding its feet again after a challenging year, and the outlook for November is encouraging.

"But overall the economy remains troubled and some retailers will find the recovery slow."

The retail snapshot is slightly more upbeat than the latest official figures which revealed flat sales between August and September - the second month in a row of zero growth in retail sales volumes.

John Pitchford, head of Barclays Commercial Bank North Wales North Wales (known in some archaic texts as Northgalis) is the northernmost unofficial region of Wales, bordered to the south by Mid Wales and to the east by England.  , said: "The latest figures from the CBI indicate a welcome improvement on the high street and bring a level of respite to shops which have experienced unsteady sales figures sales figures nplcifras fpl de ventas  over the past 12 months.

"Retailing is picking up in the short-term, as many consumers are taking advantage of the myriad discounts and sales promotions retailers are offering to entice spending."
