Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 29, 2001

Verisity Ltd. (Nasdaq:VRST VRST Virtual Reality Software and Technology

), a leading provider of functional verification Functional verification, in electronic design automation, is the task of verifying that the logic design conforms to specification. In everyday terms, functional verification attempts to answer the question "Does this proposed design do what is intended?" This is a complex task,  automation tools, today announced that BrightCom Technologies Ltd. has purchased Specman Elite (TM) for the functional verification of their IntelliBLUE (TM) product line, including the BIC BIC

BrightCom chose Specman Elite for its ability to automatically verify complex designs and enable verification reuse in order to save time and quickly find hard-to-reach bugs.

For the verification of these devices, BrightCom needed a solution that could speed their verification time while providing extensive functional coverage measurement on the effectiveness of their generated tests.

In addition to Specman Elite, BrightCom is using Verisity's USB e Verification Component (eVC(TM)) in the verification of the BIC210x family. eVCs are reusable pieces of verification code written in Verisity's e verification language for standard protocols, such as USB. The USB eVC allowed BrightCom's engineers to reuse the entire verification environment for the USB protocol thereby saving time and producing high-quality silicon.

"Specman Elite is a complete verification system that gives us confidence that our designs will be completely verified," said Eli Wildenberg, ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) Pronounced "a-sick." A chip that is custom designed for a specific application rather than a general-purpose chip such as a microprocessor.  Group Manager for BrightCom. "With the addition of the USB eVC, we were able to quickly create our entire verification environment and spend our time where it counts most, verifying the design and finding bugs. Verisity's technology truly accelerated the verification process."

"BrightCom is focused on the exciting Bluetooth market and providing consumers with access to seamless communications," said Oved Saraf, director of Sales for Israel for Verisity. "To create these sophisticated systems, they needed a sophisticated verification solution that would ensure they could turn out high-quality silicon within their schedule. We're delighted that Specman Elite and the USB eVCs not only met, but exceeded their criteria for verification."
